Mackenzie North Mine Extension and Associated Civil Works, Jellinbah Mine

Nestled on the Tropic of Capricorn, the Jellinbah Mine, under the stewardship of the Jellinbah Group, stands as a testament to decades of mining excellence. Since its inception in 1989, the mine has been a beacon of open-cut operations, employing precision and efficiency to extract high-quality coal resources.

The mining process unfolds with a meticulously orchestrated sequence. Overburden drilling and blasting herald the commencement, followed by conventional removal through the tireless efforts of truck and shovel, accompanied by the steadfast guidance of dozer push.

In 2018, Exact Civil Construction were entrusted with delivery of the Mackenzie North Mine Extension - Civil Works Project on behalf of Jellinbah Mining Pty Ltd at their Jellinbah Mine operations located in Blackwater Queensland.

The key components of this Project were a testament to engineering excellence of the Exact Civil Construction project delivery team, involving a massive 12.5-kilometre levee construction, a two-lane, two-way haul road spanning approximately 11.3 kilometres, construction of dams, and various pads, mining infrastructure, and structures. Other works included in-situ stabilisation, foamed bitumen works, and the construction of concrete causeways and shotcrete.

This Project, brought together innovation, precision and environmental responsibility of Exact Civil Construction and Jellinbah, through a collaborative effort to deliver ahead of schedule and to strict quality certification.
